Sara says: CHECK OUT THE MOST UNDERAPPRECIATED CRAFT MEDIUM EVER!

The toilet paper roll. Most of us just toss it in the garbage without a second glance, BUT WAIT JUST A DAMN MINUTE! Lookit all the things the little toilet paper roll that could can be!

You can make a ton of things using this basic shape. Just cut the roll into strips horizontally and squish.

Check out this wreath, using that same shape.

Adorable! Make little leaves with that same shape!

Poinsettias, OMG!

What else can we make?!?!?!?!?

Owls!

Ooooooo! It hardly even looks like a toilet paper tube anymore.

A little more advanced gluing perhaps, but what a cute gift holder thing!

Holiday candles!

Oooooo! Would be great for a Kwanzaa kinara or a Hanukkah menorah!

I think these lanterns are my favorite. You could seal the bottom and put an electric tealight in it!

I'm so excited! I've already began hoarding toilet paper and paper towel rolls to upcycle into beautiful (and cheap as dirt) things!

What's your favorite thing to upcycle into crafts? Coffee cans? Glass jars? Tell me!

Sara says: SAVE ME!

I have a jolly old photo-dump of Creepy Clowns for you and 95% of these guys hail from one of my favorite places to thrift, SAVERS.

Enjoy! I guess... If that's what you're into.

How'd the pins get up under there?!

Wait, the one on the left is holding a clown baby... that's so meta.

BALLLLOOOOONNNNSSSSS!

You sure are.

All these shapes around my eyes convey happiness.

FOUR! Is that what you're supposed to say? Four?
Oh. God.

Well, yay. Wasn't that fun?

Sara says: THANKS

Just a quickie wishing everyone out there in internet-land a Happy Thanksgiving as we celebrate and feast here in the States.

Some things I am thankful for:
-My sexy-ass self and my continued journey into growing up into the person I love to be.
-My partner, Matthew, who I love ever so much.
-My family and being able to care for my granny.
-My graduate school program for giving me direction.
-The sun for shining.
-My sexy-ass 1996 Toyota Corolla for running and toting me around since middle school.
-The Occupy movement for occupying.
-The nearly 5,000 folks who have visited this blog! Wow!

Y'all take this day for some self-care. Don't get caught up in the stress-laden retail blahs. As a matter of fact, DON'T BUY ANYTHING, as an act of revolution. (#OCCUPYXMAS) And take time to enjoy your family and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sara says: LOOKS LIKE LIPSTICK ON A PIG TO ME

Hello lovelies! More makeup geekery! More *MOVIE* makeup geekery! Teehee!

Guess who's my source of inspiration this time?

Source: flare.com via Rachel on Pinterest

The Muppets comes out tonight! I simply had to do a Miss Piggy look.

Yow, that cat eye looks a mile long in photos. Oh well. DRAMA, BABY.

I used a whole mess of different products, some of which I custom mixed with mah 12 Flash Color Case, to achieve the perfect piggy-pink.

Sara says: I SCREAMED A CUSS

For the last few weeks the Creepy Thrifted Clown offerings have all come from ONE trip to the Mid-Towne Antique Mall here in Little Rock. I thought I'd save the best for last- and I use the term "best" loosely here, folks.

Now, in isolation, this CTC find might not be so bad. But after a junkin adventure filled with tiny creepy little clowns... well this clearly must be their overlord or something. I'm talking creeped out to the max.  I caught this in my peripheral vision as I turned a corner and I screamed a cuss.

Maybe because, at any second, it looks like that thing is going to turn it's head up...

*jibblies*

Woo! Ok then! Welp, have a good rest of the weekend. And yes, I'm just gonna leave it at that.

Bye now!

Sara says: WE'LL START WITH FOREVER

OH. EM. GEE! It's Breaking Dawn time! I should be writing a paper, but instead I thought I would share some makeup geekery with you. It's been awhile since I've gotten into some makeup geekery!

I'm gonna drag myself and a friend out in the cold to see the epic saga unfold at midnight. I thought I'd do a fun Bella's wedding day look. SQUEE!

Source: imdb.com via Kristin on Pinterest

From the looks of the promos and trailers and all that, it seems that Bella's wedding gang colors are in the purple family. So I went with a brown and purple smokey eye.

And because I'm a jerk, here's my Kristen Stewart face...

Have fun tonight Twi-hards! The feathers shall fly!

Sara sings: I'M ON THE EDGE WITH YOU

Hmmm, a lot of my blog entry titles are Gaga lyrics. It's like the early days of Grey's Anatomy, with the song titles, but it sucks less! (Actually, I miss the early days of Grey's, but oh well...) ANYWHO, I've been crocheting like mad still! Been completing a project every couple of days! I blame stress...

But, I finally worked up this precious unicorn, from Syppah's etsy. I'm proud of myself, because I've just recently mastered the art of little amis! Hopefully I'll be able to make up my own patterns someday!

Sara says: SAD CLOWN IS SAD

Woooo! It's been a helluva week, y'all. Granny fell on Tuesday and broke her everything. No seriously, breaking a hip seriously sucks. She's back home though, but the family and I are pretty stressed to the max. Makes me say "seriously" a lot.

So, a sad clown seems appropriate. We've talked about hobo clowns before, but why are sad clowns a popular clown motif? Maybe he broke his everything too. On black velvet, of course. What finer medium could possibly exist?!

I like how he kind of looks like a paint-by-number, ON VELVET!

Sara says: LET'S TALK TURKEY

OH. EM. GEE YOU GUYS! Thanksgiving is 2 weeks away. That's some real conversation for your ass! 2 weeks!

I've still been crocheting and playing with string like a mad woman. Maybe I'm stressed? Jacked up on the endless lattes I pour into my face? Who knows?! The point is, since this post, I've completed a pair of mittens (I made a pattern myself!), 2 hats, a leaf, a sugar skull, and now this dude - just in time for Thanksgivoweenmas! Hopefully I can keep up the momentum to make stuff for Christmas. AHHH!

TURKEY LURKEY!

Ignore the 800 dollar's worth of nursing school text books in the background.

Yes, I have a turkey hanging from my chandelier. Fun! You can nab the pattern over at Bitter Sweet. I didn't follow the pattern exactly, but I like how Turkey Lurkey ended up. This pattern could totally be an ami peacock too. Squee!

And check out the aforementioned crocheted leaves!

Here's some more Fall-ish ideas that are next on the agenda.

A sweet little cardinal. I think I'm gonna make one for my Granny's Xmas gift.

A grown-up size pumpkin beanie for me!

I'll try to take pictures of the rest of my hooking adventures this week. Is there any crafting you like to do in the Fall/Winter? Any recipes you're trying out for Turkey Day? I wanna know!

Sara says: LET'S GET FIGURAL

Tralalalala! Oh look, a nice little collection of clown figurines!

There's this dude.

And this guy over here.

And... oh.

Photo's not blurry folks, he just has that effect on your brain.

He looks like he likes brains...

Zombie apocalypse rule! Remember to double-tap, children!

Braaaaiiinnnssss...

Speaking of zombies, is anyone else as mad at The Walking Dead as I am? It's the only show in the history of teevee that has made me actually yell at my television.

Sara sings: I'VE HAD ENOUGH, I'M NOT A FREAK.

Just a quickie post for a lovely Saturday! I love tattoos. I've collected 4 thus far in life and since the age of 15 I've had a notebook of potential concepts. Right now, I'm noticing a theme in my tattoo ruminations that I thought I would share, which is...

..::The Doomed Gorgon/Snake Woman::..

I am totally in love with this piece of flash, which I believe I spied in this month's Tattoo Flash Magazine. By Tim McAlary.

Now of course I would change it up a bit, but I like that she's not exactly Medusa - who has many tattoos devoted to her. She's kind of an amalgamation of Medusa and a freak-show snake-woman. The wee mirror totally builds off of the Medusa myth, but the snake-woman is so totally traditional tattoo imagery and "broadville"pinup style.

I tried to source the images where I could, but, alas, such is the internet. Of course, if you have a name to put the pretty peektures, I will certainly credit.

I would also be remiss not to let everyone say hello to Geneveve, who has a special place in my heart and on my leg. She's a freaky lady in her own right.

Tell me, do you have any special inked ladies in your life?

Have an excellent weekend!
