Sara sings: MAKE IT! MAKE IT! MAKE IT! MAKE IT!

FASTER! FASTER! FASTER! FASTER!
(seriously, clicky the link above, it's part of this complete balanced breakfast)

I haven't done a craftastic post in awhile. Here's a roundup of the different kinds of string I've been playing with.

I've been itchin to do some stichin... ok that was pretty bad. But, no really! Behold my magical, whimsical creation!
"I reject your reality & substitute my own"

unicorns I love them...

GLITTER BUTTONS!
I'm pretty proud of her! I changed the pattern a bit, which you can find at Aimee Ray's flickr. The quote is from The Office and I totally free-handed the words (which you can probably tell, but I like how messy it looks, very Fractured Fairy Tales). This is the first embroidery piece I've ever done and I heart it.

Other awesome unicorn embroidery patterns to indulge your inner child (or literal one if you, you know, have one):
-Sublime Stitching
-This one from Sunshine and Carousels

I've also been crocheting my little fingers to the bone. I crafted a skinny scarf for myself and made my first little amigurumi friend!

First, my funky yarn creation. I love making skinny scarves. They are versatile and make quick n' easy gifts. I made one for myself out of Amazing (Aurora) by Lion Brand and Pom Pom (Confetti) by Loops and Threads.

As an added stupid detail, there's little tabs on the end (that glow in the dark, that's the stupid part) to button the ends of the scarf together. Glow in the dark feature brought to you by a discontinued Bernat yarn from a couple of Halloweens ago. :<

Then I made my ami from this super sweet book.

He's a narwhal! Eeeeee! He's not perfect, but I luff him. Ana Paula Rimoli has other lovely patterns to be found on her blog! I'm definitely gonna check out her other books too, the instructions are so easy A SARA CAN DO IT!

Amigurumis kind of intimidated me at first, but now I'm totally empowered! Lookit the pattern I picked up this morning from Syppah!

That's about it for the moment! I think the Fall weather has totally turned on my crafty-ness. What are you working on?

Sara says: BOO!

I'm getting revved up for Halloween. It's kinda my holiday. I would marry Halloween if I could. Be that as it may, I can't decide what to be this year. Here's a photo-dump from Pinterest of potential ideas.

Sara was visited by: ELVES

Y'all know I love makeup.

I also love being a cheap-ass frugal!

So when those powers combine... MAGIC! Elves are magic right...?

Well, the little elves at e.l.f. did not disappoint. I got a Target giftcard for my bday and I went crazy! Subsequently, I now have some fantastic drugstore, budget-friendly makeup geekery to bestow upon you.

First, I picked up some e.l.f. Essential Brightening Eye Color quads. They're $1 and fairly awesome.

(L-R) Silver Lining, Punk Funk, & Teal Dream

The colors are swatched in order from left to right. The lightest color on the fair left of each quad was consistently pretty powdery (the website says these are formulated with corn silk). Punk Funk is a clear winner here (the pink is AH-MAZING, could be a NARS shadow dupe I'm sure of it). These also come with sponge tip applicators, which I pretty much immediately tossed. Teal Dream is the one I would probably pass on, except that second color (which you can barely see in my swatches) is actually quite pretty. Any glitter mentioned is silver.

Silver Lining
Color description L-R: light purple frost, blurple matte with a little glitter, slate frost, lilac micro glitter)
Punk Funk

Color description L-R: white matte with slight pink shift, blue matte with a little glitter, purple matte, hot pink micro-glitter)
Teal Dream

Color description L-R: white metallic shimmer with glitter, very soft taupe frost, blue frost with a slight green shift, teal frost with a slight gold shift

Not too shabby for a dollar each! I've never used e.l.f. makeup before (except brushes) and I'm pleased as punch. There's a large range of colors available on the website. I also picked up an eyeliner brush which I LOVE and some green tea oil blotting sheets.

So, have you been visted by elves? Tell me all about it, because I so want to try more e.l.f.!

Sara says: THERE'S TROUBLE IN FAERY

Why hello there! Hope your weekend was satisfying. This is a follow up to the "What fairy-inspired look should I wear to my True Blood watch party?" post (clicky here for that). Thanks to all the Temptalia readers for visiting especially and everyone who voted (or attempted to). I'm sad my little poll widget didn't hold up but I just assumed the two pink looks I did were voted down and came up with something fantastic!

Annnndddd I just went for rainbow sparkle funtimes. Can't go wrong with that in Faery, amIright?!?!

Hope any Truebies out there have fun! I'm about to go partake of gumbo and cherry wheat beer!

Sara says: THERE'S TROUBLE IN FAERY AND SARA NEEDS HELP

**Edit 06/26 5:58pm** Well y'all, I just assumed the pinkie pie looks were voted down and came up with something different. Have a gander!

Hey guys! I am super pumped about the season 4 premier of True Blood this Sunday. To celebrate, I'll do what I always do... super sick makeup! I know I've been ON the makeup thing a lot, but it's good for me! For one, I have A LOT of fun makeups stashed and need to use that shit! For two, I love the artistry and impermanence of makeup. Crafting at your craft is usually a good thing to do.

So, makeup + True Blood! (<- Clicky the link to check out a fun new True Blood collection by Tarte!) I've decided to lighten up a bit since most of my steppin out looks are dark. Since the new season has a lot to do with Sookie and the fae, I'm going to attempt a fairy inspired look. For this look, I immediately thought PINK and GLITTER and GLOWY YELLOW! Here's what I've come up with.

Option #1:

(face chart)

Option #2:
(face chart)

(I added some yellow on the outer corner.)

These looks are my takes on Linda Mason's work from her fabulous book, Eye Candy. #1 is called "Urban Poet" (pg. 93) and #2 is "Punky" (pg. 61). Further plans are to accentuate the area around the eye with lots'o'glitters and do a mad lavender-ish lip.

Now, if you please, HELP ME OUT!

**Edit 06/26 8:12am** Well my poll keeps popping in and out, not sure why, but I'll go with a different poll widget next time! Jeez...that's annoying. Anyways! Tell me in the comments which look you like better! Or neither! Or both! :D

Do you have watch parties? What sorts of shenanigans do you put on in celebration of excellent television? Tell me in the comments and don't forget to VOTE! :D

Option #2 on the right, #1 on the left!

Sara says: Y'ALL KNOW I'M JUST A BIG LABEL WHORE

Howdy there lovelies! I have more makeup geekery for you today, plus a FABULOUS AND CHEAP MAKEUP FIND!

This is a brown/teal look that's heavy on the Label Whore eyeshadow by Too Faced. I love this eyeshadow and it's one of Too Faced's best! It's a smexy warm brown with a teal glimmer throughout. It blends like butter. This color would be a good pick for folks who normally just wear browns/taupes but are maybe thinkin about dabbling in a wee punch of color. A touch of Label Whore in the crease of your eye would be the bee's knees!

Default silly kissy face so you can see the look! :*

Also for this look I used one of the new glitter eyeliners by L.A. Colors. I used Peacock and it's right along my upper lash-line. I'm super psyched about their new liners and lemme tell ya why...

I purchased Peacock at my local Drug Emporium for $1.49!!! See my elation!!!

Here's some comparison swatches of Peacock versus Metal Head by Urban Decay and 02 Silver by Sephora.

Peacock is on the left, Metal Head (light purple) is in the middle, and 02 Silver is on the right.

+L.A. Colors' Peacock 0.24 fl oz - <$5.00
(price depending on retailer)
+Urban Decay's Metal Head 0.25 fl oz - $18.00
+Sephora's 02 Silver 0.12 fl oz - $12.00

There's a clear winner here I think...

I will say that Urban Decay's is more blingy with larger flecks of glitter. Sephora's is a bit more goopy in consistency but has more glitter saturation (which equals less passes over the eye). L.A. Colors' is a happy medium between the two - not accounting for the price difference though!

I would definitely (if ya couldn't tell already) recommend the L.A. Colors glitter liner. I've been romping about outside for a couple of hours and the glitter hasn't budged or migrated all over my face. The brush inside is small, pointy, and easy to work with. They have a lovely range of colors and I think I'm gonna have to pick up every single one of them (<- clicky the link to purchase online). Now these may be comparable to the NYX brand ones but I don't have one to compare (NYX is another lovely drugstore brand, though perhaps lacking in the customer service department).

So definitely a win overall! I'm so happy to find decent products on the cheap so I can dive back in to makeup artistry again. I also purchased a new mascara from Physician's Formula that I'm really digging.

Have you guys found any beauty holy grails recently? What are some of your utmost favorite things? Would you rock some glitter liner?
