Sara says: HO, HO, ohhh...

The saints are still marching in! Check out these priceless works of art I stumbled across while junkin this weekend.

Santa kinda looks like he just crawled out of the gay bar at 5 am. GO SANTA! And by "go" I mean, GO HOME! Jeez...

I'd also like to give a shout-out to literally the creepiest Santa I've ever seen. I'm kinda glad blogger friend Eartha Kitsch found him, because if I had seen him in person, I would have had some kind of nervous fit or something.

Clicky HERE to visit EK's lovely blog and see this bastard lit up. No, seriously, I had real-life nightmares about this thing. Will not be visiting Nashvegas anytime soon.

Merry Kitschmas!

Sara says: I FEEL SAINTLIKE

(^I'll take obscure Harry Potter jokes for $1,000, Alex. If you get that, I love you and you are, in fact, a nerd.^)

(photo from here)

Ok folks, welcome to this wonderful installment of Sara's Dream House. Steel yourselves, things are about to get weird.

Welcome to the Neon Jesus Vestibule!

Now, this idea came to me many many years ago from Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet.

Ever since little baby Sara saw this movie back in 1996, she's wanted neon crosses all over her house. I'm willing, as an adult, to limit this to one room.

Here's what would adorn such a place.

Proof that I'm not nuts...

or at least that there's other crazy folks like me!

These are divinely holographic.

You know I need one of these to curl up in.

I also have some amazing ideas about crafting with tarot cards, like making a tarot card garland/bunting. And of course, Muertos and roses EVERYWHERE!

Sara says: COME IN, COME IN

Why hello there! Just to take a break from the holiday insanity, I thought I would start a super fun blog series, like Sara's Junktique Rainbow of Funtimes. This series is called... *drumroll*

So basically, I'm going to take you through my dream house room by room. It's not a dream MANSION because it is based in reality... somewhat. In my dream house, you will find decor inspiration and craft ideas galore. I'll curate the rooms based on my own photographs, stuff I love on Pinterest, and various vintage/modern/reclaimed treasures. Ya know, the stuff that makes a house cozy and gives it character. EEEE! I'm so exicited!

This will be the homepost so that you can navigate through all of the "rooms". Just click on the image that says "Sara's Dream House" to come back here!

See below my dream front door.

Well, come in! Welcome!

Sara says: SHE SELLS SEASHELLS

Welcome to the Seashell-scaped Bathery

(because bathery sounds fancier than bathroom, that's why)...

I don't know which mirror I like better. This one...

or this one!

Love this!

Succulents in a seashell!

Amazing!

Wouldn't these make the most darling gifts?! Super easy to make too!

I just imagine shells like this making a guttural noise like "WAHHHHH!"

Everywhere!

I've always wanted one of these!

And, of course, kitschy shit like this strategically shoved into little corners and crannies.

Isn't this the neatest thing?
"Who hasn’t dreamed of a having a view of the ocean from their bathtub? With the Bath Palette My Ocean, now even the most landlocked among us can enjoy the soothing rhythms of the waves. The Bath Palette contains 9 blue LED lights that recreate the rippling, relaxing feel of the ocean in your own bathroom."

I saved the best for last of course, the dreamy tub and shower!

How could you not feel like a mermaid?

Dream tub! The stairs OMG!

Ahhhh... I can almost hear the waves crashing...

Sara says: WHAT. IS. THIS?!

No seriously? What's this?
Found him at Savers, of course.

Best guess gets an internet cupcake!

The clowns are on vacation 'til 2012, maybe... Leave me a comment linking to your own creepy thrifted or vintage Santa treasures and we'll keep this going all month!

Sara says: EH. NOVEMBER.

HOLY CRICKET I AM DELINQUENT IN MY BLOG DUTIES! Ok, it's not that serious, but man did November go by fast. I can't believe it's already Christmas time! AHHHHH!

Well, November does serve a purpose other than being Pre-Generic Winter Buying Holiday time. Let's look, shall we?

+New blogs I've found and enjoyed:
- Fat People of Color
- Oh So Lovely Vintage
- omg cats in space!
- Things Could Be Worse

+My favorite posts this month:
- Everyone meet Mariner Edge of Glory!
- Twi-hard makeup geek time! (I don't hate Kristen Stewart, I really don't... see below.)

+Movies I've watched:
- The Muppets. It was pretty sweet. Miss Piggy being sassy! Hooray! Amy Adams is my new girl-crush. Seriously. Me-ow.

- The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1. This one was my favorite of all the other Twilight films! I love how they just went for it and was all, "Here we go y'all, all aboard on the crazy train!" I think Bella was the most likeable she's ever been in the films, and that's all I'm going to say about that. I've about finished the books, so when I snark on the conservative, anti-feminist themes at least I'll have the knowledge to back it up. This series is so dumb... and I love it for being dumb. *sigh*

- The Lovely Bones. I don't understand why people didn't like this one! I guess I've just been a Peter Jackson fan for too long; I could totally see him being into this story. Reminded me a bit of Heavenly Creatures. The special effects could have been better, perhaps. This movie was no What Dreams May Come, as far as depicting heaven goes. Other than that, I liked it a lot!

- Watched all three Lord of the Rings films over Thanksgiving. Why? BECAUSE I'M A NERD, THAT'S WHY. Something about epic sagas just gets to me... gonna start reading The Hunger Games I think, before the movie comes out.

- marathoned all 8 Harry Potter movies, because that's just what I do when I'm stressed.

Jeez, my taste in movies makes me look like a big dork! I need to get a little more arte haus up in here!

+Creepiest Clown:
 I Screamed a Cuss

+YouTube videos that made me teehee:
I know this video is as old as the internet, but it makes me happy!

Learn how to speak gracefully in public like Kristen Stewart!

I love Target's holiday ads, they have embraced the crazy White woman demographic!

+Other Required Viewing:
- A proposed software tool is intended to address concerns about the prevalence of highly idealized and digitally edited images in advertising and fashion magazines. (Clicky here for article).
- Why The Walking Dead makes me scream at the teevee, but I'll probably still watch it in February.
- Fuck Whole Foods.
- Hyperbole and a Half triumphs over depression.

+Notable pins:
I keep threatening to make a neon-Jesus themed room, and this is kind of what it would look like.

Easy curls hair tutorial! So easy, a Sara can do it!

My favorite comic so far from Things Could Be Worse, linked above. Thanks, Casey!

I am so going to make this.

Children as Ellen and Portia on their wedding day for Halloween! This made me cry all over the place.

+Exciting happenings IRL:
- Done with school this semester, OMFG!
- Took the lovey to go see Fiddler on the Roof as an early Christmas present. TRADITION! tradition...

+Relevant photos:

Granny and her tree. Poor Granny broke her hip this month. Ignore cluttery-ass kitchen.

LET THE BAKING BEGIN!

I am obsessed with making hats, but have discovered I may be slightly allergic to acrylic?!

+Big Girls Don't Cry Hotness of the Month:
Oh yeah, fat girls CAN SO cosplay and look badass!

Tell me something amazing you did last month? Did you have an epic and marvelous Thanksgiving? I hope so!

Here's to a truly excellent Decemeber! Wow! The year is almost over!

Sara says: CHECK OUT THE MOST UNDERAPPRECIATED CRAFT MEDIUM EVER!

The toilet paper roll. Most of us just toss it in the garbage without a second glance, BUT WAIT JUST A DAMN MINUTE! Lookit all the things the little toilet paper roll that could can be!

You can make a ton of things using this basic shape. Just cut the roll into strips horizontally and squish.
Source: google.com via Sara on Pinterest

Check out this wreath, using that same shape.

Adorable! Make little leaves with that same shape!

Poinsettias, OMG!

What else can we make?!?!?!?!?

Owls!

Ooooooo! It hardly even looks like a toilet paper tube anymore.

A little more advanced gluing perhaps, but what a cute gift holder thing!

Holiday candles!

Oooooo! Would be great for a Kwanzaa kinara or a Hanukkah menorah!

I think these lanterns are my favorite. You could seal the bottom and put an electric tealight in it!

I'm so excited! I've already began hoarding toilet paper and paper towel rolls to upcycle into beautiful (and cheap as dirt) things!

What's your favorite thing to upcycle into crafts? Coffee cans? Glass jars? Tell me!
